Keeping Games Fun & Friendly

Today in our Cybersmart lesson we were thinking about the games we play online and how we need to be smart to keep the games fun and friendly.

We thought of ways we can do this and created a GIF in Canva with our important messages. In Canva we can use elements to design our pages, put in backgrounds, add text and format the text so we can read the messages easily and animate elements and text so the movement catches the eye fo the viewers.

Here is some of our work...

Sunsmart & Creating GIFs

This week in our Cybsersmart lesson we thought about what we need to do to be sunsmart.
We made a GIF in Canva to show our messages about how to be sunsmart.
Do you know what a GIF is?

Have you used Canva? We love it!
We can animate elements. add text and animate the text
as well as make it eye-catching to get people's attention.

Here are some of the GIFs we created.

Celebrating 2021

In our Cybersmart lessons with Mrs Torrie we have been using Canva to create a video.
We have thought of some of our achievements in 2021 to include in our video.
We added a video of us introducing ourselves at the start.
This video plays within our video!
We added audio as well and were able to animate some of our elements.

Here is Lafo's video.

Media We Like to Use

Today in our Cybersmart lesson we were thinking about media and all the different types there are.

This term we are looking at media and making smart decisions about media,
especially if it is fact or fiction and who can we trust.

Today we learnt how to use the timer on our Chromebook's camera
then upload it to the Remove Background site.

When we inserted out photo into a Google Slide we then added logos of media we like to use.

Here is some of our work from today.

Smart Footprint

This week in our Cybersmart lesson we were learning about our digital footprint.
Everything we do online creates our digital footprint.
As smart learners we need to make decisions about the information we share online.
We can share personal but not private information.

Today we created a visual footprint with some personal information on it.
We could share our first name, our class, our year, our teacher's name, sport we play and favourite toys or things to do.
Take a look at some of our mahi form today....

Olympic Games Images

This week in our Cybersmart lesson we were creating images about the Olympic Games.
One task was to complete an Olympic Torch.
We used polyline and curve lines to trace over the image, flipped it horizontally, moved it into position then recoloured it.
Another image to create was a pictogram.
A tricky one was to trace over the Olympic Rings using the curve line tool and recolour them.
Take a look at some of our mahi from today.

Ice Creams

Do you like ice creams? What is your favourite flavour?

Today in our Cybersmart lesson with Kōkā Cheryl we were creating ice creams in
Google Drawings suing shapes.

We learned how to use many shapes and them make it look like we had one shape for a flavour and one shape for the chocolate topping. Lots of us could add sprinkles as well. Some of us added a cherry on top.

Look at our ice creams. Click through the slides to see the yummy delights we created.

Polyline & Curve Line Tools

This week in our Cybersmart lesson with Kōkā Cheryl we were learning about creating original images so that we own them and can use and share them wherever we want.
We were creating our own images using only 2 types of lines - polyline and curved lines.

We had to create the initial of our first name and then an object. We had to spin a wheel to find what object to draw. Some of us got a house and some of us got a t-shirt.

Here is our work. Click through the slides to see how creative we are!

Chromepets & Kawa of Care

Every week we have a Cybersmart lesson with Kōkā Cheryl who is a
facilitator with The Manaiakalani Programme.

Our first lesson was on caring for our Chromebook and our Kawa of Care.
We thought about how we look after our pets and how it is similar to looking after our device.

We also learned how to work with shapes and images in Google Slides to make a Chromepet.
Here is some of our work. Click through the slides to see the Chromepets.
